Why Switching thumbnails can completely change your video's performance?
1.When to switch?
While CTR is great, a lot of variables can affect it.
Views on the other hand are a true reflection of performance.
Look at your video's typical performance…
If it's underperforming, there's an issue.
Your CTR also underperforming?
Time for a switch.
2.How long to wait?
Time shouldn't determine when you switch a thumbnail.
Impressions should.
Some channels get 4,000,000 impressions in 1 hour…
Some get 4.
Get enough impressions to fairly access the performance.
And if it's underperforming, don't wait around.
3.What to change?
Sometimes making the slightest adjustment works.
But most of the time it won’t.
If your video is underperforming because of the thumbnail…
It’s normally because you got the thumbnail wrong.
If you’re going to switch it, try something completely new.
4.Whether it worked..
Similar to the original, focus on views.
Most look for an improvement in CTR.
While this can work, what is it doing to views?
If CTR doubled but views stalled, it wasn’t a good switch.
Look for a significant change in the trajectory of views.
5.Multiple Switches
There’s a lot more to a video than just the thumbnail.
And it might not be the reason your video isn’t performing.
It’s worth trying a thumbnail switch...
But don’t waste too much time on it.
Try once, maybe twice and then move on to the next one.
